Dignity of Children® prepares youth practitioners to receive their professional School Age Care SAC Credential which is granted by the New York State (NYS) Network for Youth Success
The NYS SAC Credential is recognized by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services as an official credential for a director to operate an after-school program in New York State.
Applying for the NYS SAC Credential is a big commitment. However, working towards the credential can be a rewarding experience. It offers the opportunity to:
- Reflect and evaluate the candidate’s program in relation to New York State School-Age Care Competency Standards.
- Get feedback and support from people who have experience working in the after-school field and knowledge about school-age services.
- Improve candidate’s skills in ways that are satisfying for candidate and beneficial for children.
- Earn a professional Credential that is recognized throughout New York State and beyond.

KEY ELEMENTS
Dignity of Children® provides guidance to each candidate until completion of their credential. We provide one-on-one coaching, group work, resources and skill-building techniques online, so that you are ready for your New York State SAC endorser visit by NYS Network for Youth Success, the official state affiliate of the National After School Association.
The cost of this class is $2,500 per candidate.
The NYS SAC Credential Preparatory Course Part I and Part II classes will take place from 9:30 am-12:30 pm. There are TWO SEMESTERS, a total of 24 weeks. Currently, this course is only offered virtually.
- Part 1 consists of a weekly 3-hour course for 12 weeks.
- Part 2 consists of a weekly 3-hour course for 12 weeks.
NYS SAC CREDENTIAL OFFERS FOLLOWING OPPORTUNITIES TO CANDIDATES
Evaluate their own work in relation to New York State School-Age Care Competency Standards.
Feedback, support & knowledge from professionals working with school-age children about school-age services.
Improve their skills in ways that are satisfying for themselves and beneficial for children.
Earn a professional Credential that is recognized throughout New York State and beyond.
